3-Year-Old Class

The School For Young Children  »  3-Year-Old Class

We have one 3-year-old class at SYC that is Monday through Friday. In order for a child to be enrolled in our 3-year-old, they must turn 3 on or before August 31st of the enrolling year.  Each day consists of free play, group activities, circle time, snack, outside play (weather permitting) and school related activities.  Students will investigate how things work and explore their world. Students learn about letters each week as we focus on a new character/letter each weekly.  Students also work on weekly Bible verses and activities related to our particular theme of the week.  In circle time, students achieve recognizing their first and last name, naming the letters that make up their name, how to write their name independently and counting as high as they can.  Pastor Rob holds exciting chapel services with the students twice monthly. Our 3’s love taking walks outside, making friends and learning new things!

Meet Our Teachers

Martha Dula is our lead teacher our 3-year-old class. This is her 23rd year teaching at SYC, and she obtained her Early Childhood Credentials from CCC&TI. She is certified in CPR and First Aid. Mrs. Dula and her husband are blessed with two daughters, and they live the Yadkin Valley Community. Mrs. Dula is a member of the Piney Grove Baptist Church where her husband is pastor. She loves antiques and finding that something special at an antique store. Her biggest reward as a teacher of SYC is “when a child reaches out for my hand or gives me that first hug. I know we are on our way for wonderful accomplishments.”

Tina Smith is our assistant in the 3-year-old class. Mrs. Smith has been at SYC for 22 years and is happily married and the mother of three children. She is an active member at Colliers Methodist Church. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and spending time with her family. Mrs. Smith has worked in childcare for over 25 years and has taken several childcare and business courses over the years to further her education. Her favorite reason for working at SYC is being able to share God’s Word and love with the children of SYC.
